Sleep & Potty Training
M is getting to be such a big girl. We are practicing both sleep independence and potty training with her. As I type, she is laying quietly in her bed falling asleep for a nap while I sit on the couch in the living room. She has never been much of a sleeper. For her first 6 months or so, she would only catnap (sleep for 15-20 minutes) throughout the day.
But since her nighttime sleep was good, her doctor was never concerned, so we dealt with it as best we could. Even still, she's never seemed to need quite as much sleep as they recommend for her age. And she's always had a pretty high level of separation anxiety, so I've tried to just be patient.

So today is day #2 of trying out nap time alone. She gets to have the door all the way open if she lays in bed quietly to relax and nap. From what I can tell, she is now soundly asleep. It worked yesterday, too! She slept for a little over an hour yesterday, so we will see how today goes. Once I get this down pretty well with her, I'm planning on trying it out with bed time.
Bed time has been quite the issue lately. For a little while, she wanted to lay down by herself and go to sleep, even after we switched to her toddler bed. Then she regressed and needed me to rock her to sleep again (for bed time and nap time). She's also been getting out of bed every night to come into my room. I don't mind her being there, so I figure she needs me for comfort, security, or whatever, and I let her stay. Plus being pregnant I just don't have the energy to get up and put her back to bed as many times as I would have to (I've tried). I'm sure once E is here, it's not going to get much better, but I'll just have to handle it as best I can. At least I won't have my big pregnant belly in the way by then.

I got caught up in a few other things, and now that I'm about to publish this post, we're at about one hour and 20 minutes of napping! Day two = success.
